Day01: Arrival in Chengdu Upon arrival in Chengdu, transfer to the hotel.

Day02: Chengdu – 125 km – Ya’an – 325 km – Xinduqiao total: 450 km After breakfast in the hotel, start the journey and drive to Ya’an, a city nicknamed as the RainCity because of its heavy annual rainfall. En route, enjoy the landscape of west part of Sichuan. We also drive through Erlong Tunnel, the highest located (in terms of the altitude), the longest tunnel in China so far. We will also pass through Kangding, capital of GanziTibetAutonomousPrefecture in Sichuan. Before we reach Xinduqiao, we pass through Mt.Zheduo(4298 m). We get to Xinduqiao before dinner. Xinduqiao is known as the paradise for the photographers.

Day03: Xinduqiao – 69 km – Yajiang – 28 km – Daocheng Total: 353 km Today, we continue our drive to Yajiang, a small mountain city. En route, we drive through Mt.Gao’ersi (4718 m). After Yajiang, we drive to Litang county and have lunch in Litang. Afternoon drive goes through Setuo Grassland, Maoya Grassland, Wuliang River, Rabbit Mountain (the source of the famous Chinese Legend “ Race between Turtle and Rabbit”, Haizi Mountain, the largest Glaciers site, located in Qinghai – Tibet Plateau. Upon arrival in Daocheng, check in at your hotel. In the evening, you can go to the famous Hot Spring Village to have a relax (fee is on your own).

Day04: Daocheng - Yading In the early morning, you can enjoy the sunrise. After breakfast, we start driving to YadingVillage. En route visit the 600 year old Langjiling Monastery. After lunch in Shangri-laTown, we start driving into Yading Nature Reserve. While driving in the reserve, you are able to view in distance Xian’airi Peak(in Tibetan, it means Goddess of Mercy).

Day05: Yading – FrogLake – Riwa – Daocheng After breakfast, take the horse ride (fee is on your own, about 180 yuan = $23 USD, for each horse, there is a local Tibetan showing you the way) to the FrogLake. En route, visit Chong Gu Monastery, Luo Rong Meadow, PearlLake. Horse ride back to Yading and then drive back to Daocheng.

Day06: Daocheng – 148 km – Litang – 226 km – Xinlong – 109 km – Ganzi Total: 483 KM
Today’s drive is long and comparatively tough. But for the photographers and those who enjoy taking pictures, it is quite worth doing. If you are lucky enough, you may have the chance to see the whole mountain range covered by the sunshine before we reach to Ganzi.

Day07: Ganzi – 88 km – Manigange – 12 km – Xinluhai – 29 km – Mt.Chola – 67 km – Dege Total: 196 KM
After breakfast, we drive out of the town to the east to enjoy the morning view and visit Dajin Monastery. Drive to the famous Manigange to enjoy the beautiful YulonglacuoLake.
Dege is a little Town, Resting in a valley with CholaMountain to the east and the Tibetan border to the west, Dege is steeped in living tradition and sees little of the distant, outside world, other than the truckers and few travelers who pass through. The village is mainly a Tibetan town.
Getting to Dege is a long haul. En route you'll see the towering snowy peaks of Chola Mountain strectching up 6168 m. and the Xinhua Glacier which comes down almost to the road at 4100 m. Chola Mountain itself was first scaled in 1988 and you might begin to wonder if your driver is attempting the same as the cruiser grumbles and inches its way uphill to the top of the peaks. At the Tro La (Chola) Pass of nearly 6000 m, Tibetans on board will throw colored prayer papers out the window and chant something that you can only hope will carry your jeep to safety.

Day08: Dege(3260 m) – 104 km – Jiangda – 228 km – Chamdo Total: 332 KM
Today, we leave Sichuan for Tibet.
But in the morning, we first visit Bakong Scripture Printing Lamasery. At the heart of Dege is this lamasery (admission fee RMB 25). While the present structure dates from 1744, the printing houses has existed on this site for over 270 years with printing blocks dating from the early 18 th century. The lamasery currently houses over 217,000 engraved blocks of Tibetan scriptures from the five Tibetan Buddhist sects, including Bon. Texts include ancient works on astronomy, geography, music, medicine and Buddhist classics. A history of Indian Buddhism, comprising 555 woodblock plates, is the only surviving copy in the world (writing in Hindi, Sanskrit and Tibetan).
We arrive in Chamdo before dinner.

Day09: Chamdo – 180 km – Bangda – 110 km – Basu – 110 km – Ranwu Total: 400 KM Today, we continue our drive to Ranwu. En route, we drive through Zhaqu river, Yuqu river, Lancang river, Nu river, Nu river tunnel, Ranwu lake (3807 M), known as “Sleeping beauty” and Lagu Glaciers. Today’s Journey is also long, but you feel fresh for it’s your second day in Tibet.

Day10: Ranwu – Chayu – Ranwu Total: 360 KM Ranwu Lake is surrounded by glaciers and SnowMountains. Thawed snow makes the body, the water appears different colors in different seasons, from aquamarine to turquoise. By the lake are the verdant grassland and plants. With an altitude of 3800 m, many thousand-year-old willow trees have grown round the RanwuLake whose surface is 2600 m. in length and 1000-5000 m. in width. It is the place where the PalongRiver originates. Beside the lake is a green grassland and rice field just like "the scenery in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtse River of China".
Along the Ranwu-Chayu road, you could take fine pictures of Laigu glacier across a small lake-side village, where erecting snow peaks, mirror-like lake, pure-white ice lid & live houses. The ChayuValley is known as the “NaturalMuseum”, the “ Natural Green Gene Store House”and the “Last Mysterious Spot on Earth”.

Day11: Ranwu – 140 km – Bomi Total: 140 KM Today’s journey is not long. En route, you visit Paloonzambo canyon. It islike a huge painting scroll lasting for hundred miles, this is one of the most charming part in the journey.Midui Glacier Is a oceanic mason glacier combined with two ice waterfalls in world level for its scale. You’ll catch sight of harmony among snow cap, glacier, virgin forest, lake, farmland, village & monastery.
The scenery on the way is picturesque as fairyland. Gloomy woods, rilling Paloonzambo river, whirling eagle, snow mountain, lake, farmland & villages fill your eyes without clearance. Bomi is known as “Tibet’s Switzerland ”.

Sceneries of the way:
1. Sejila Mountain. All colors of rhododendron cover the wild field every spring & beginning summer. You can take the far view for NanjiabawaPeak from 4177km point, No 318 state highway.
2. Great cypresses. There are two places, Great cypress monastery & Bajie township, where you will catch sight of each huge trunks of ancient cypress tree. The cypress wood in Bajie township covers 7 hectares, among them the oldest one gets to 2500 years.
3. Scene of Niyang river. Water waving, flow winding, numerous isles, fields, woods & meadows paste onto the view.
4. Peach woods. Charming wild blossom in spring.
5. Basongcuo. It means green aqua in Tibetan. It’s crescent as an important holy lake in Nimma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Wild birds are swimming around your boat in the refreshment from the pure surrounding & an ancient Nimma monastery on an isle. Each plant here is followed by a legend. Some is associated with reproduction totem. This lake is attached by two smaller lakes nearby its headstream.

Road condition: 3rd class of bituminous highway with wide view for your higher driving speed.

Sceneries on the way:
1.Zhigongti monastery. A temple of Kamaba sect north-east to Mozhugongka county town. It’s on a slope along Lahsa river for its local famous heaven-funeral platform. Souls rise up to paradise more easily than other place in legend. It’s one of the largest heaven-funeral platforms in the world.
2. Gandan Monastery. Set-up by Zongkaba in the long past. Large scale as one of the three largest Gluba sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

Day14: Lhasa An extraordinary day of sightseeing shows the spectacular architecture at the world-famous PotalaPalace. Former living quarters of the Dalai Lama, its massive 1000-room structure towers over this mountain city. Then visit famous Barkhor Market, where you can shop for rare Tibetan items. See one of Tibet's holiest shrines, revered 7th century JokhangTemple, with its statue of the Sakyamuni Buddha, lavishly enthroned in gold.

Day15: Lhasa – Shigatse Total: 370 KM
After two nights’ nice hotel accommodation in Lhasa, today we start driving to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. We drive through vastness of the Tibetan Plateau, pass the LakeYamdrok which is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. Then drive to Shigatse through Gyanstse. In Gyanstse you will have a chance visit Palkhor Monastery.

Day16: Shigatse – New Tingri (Shegar) – Mt.Everest Base Camp Total: 360 KM Morning visit TashiLumpu Monastery, keep on driving to Shegar (New Tinggri) through Lhatse by Land cruiser. On the way ,wel cross over GyatsolaPass at 5,220 m. And on the way, you can see Mt.Everest in distance.
Drive to Mt. Everest Nature Reserve from ShegarTown, visit the Rongbuk Monastery located at the north face of Mt.Everest, which is the highest monastery with 5100m in the world, only 20kms to the summit. See the spectacular view of Mt.Everest, visit the Base Camp, overnight in Rongbuk Monastery hostel. (dorm beds, public water-closet)

Day17: Mt.Everest Base Camp – Shigatse Total: 360 KM Get up early and see the sunrise at Mt.Everest, drive back to Shigatse.

Day18: Shigatse – Lhasa Drive back to Lhasa. Today is not difficult. You might get back to Lhasa early in the afternoon. Upon arrival in Lhasa, check in at your hotel and have a nice rest before you fly back to Chengdu tomorrow.
