Yangtse Cruise & Tibet

Day 1 Shanghai
Upon arrival in Shanghai, you are escorted to your Hotel (4 star or similar).

Day 2 Shanghai/Wuhan (AB)
Enjoy a city tour of Shanghai "Paris of the Orient". Visit the Shanghai Museum, one of the best museums in China, the Bund, and Nanjing Road, the bustling shopping street. Transfer to the airport for an afternoon flight to Wuhan. Upon arrival, transfer to your cruise ship(4 star).

Day 3 Yangtze River Cruise (AB,L,D)
Start your spectacular cruise along the mighty Yangtze River. Relax on deck or in the lounge, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the magnificent Three Gorges. Sailing upstream, view the Xiling, Wu, and Qutang Gorges, and enjoy a side trip up Shennong Stream. Shore excursions take you to Jingzhou, the Three Gorges Dam construction site, Wanxian and Zhongxian.

Day 4 Yangtze River Cruise (AB,L,D)
Enjoy your cruise along the Yangtse today.

Day 5 Yangtze River Cruise (AB,L,D)
Enjoy your cruise along the river today.

Day 6 Yangtze River Cruise (AB,L,D)
Enjoy your cruise along the river today.

Day 7 Chongqing/Dazu (AB,L,D)
Disembark this morning in Chongqing. Take a scenic ride to Dazu, along the way enjoying the typical rice terraces often seen in Sichuan. Check in to the Dazu Hotel.

Day 8 Dazu/Chengdu (B,L,SD)
Today's highlight is a visit to the famous Dazu Grottos, one
of the greatest and most well preserved 
collections of Buddhist art in China. Located on the foot of Bao Ding Hill, this amazing site houses over 50,000 statues and sculptures, including the awesome Thousand-Arms Buddha. In the afternoon drive for 4 hours to Chengdu and check into Minshan Hotel (or similar). Enjoy a special dinner tonight featuring Sichuan cuisine.

Day 9 Chengdu/Lhasa (AB,L,D)
After breakfast, take a morning flight to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. Spend the rest of today getting 
acclimated to the high altitude.

Day 10 Lhasa (AB,L,D)
Today's excursion features the renovated Potala Palace, which rises majestically from the face of sacred Putuo Hill. Afterwards, proceed to the cliff-top Drepung Monastery.

Day 11 Lhasa/Xigaze (AB,L,D)
After breakfast, take 6-8 hour coach ride on the plateau to Xigaze, the second largest city of Tibet.  Today's excursion features the Tashilumpo Monastery and its surroundings, including the six-story bronze Buddha statue and the Maitreya Buddha statue made from 614 pounds of pure gold.

Day 12 Xigaze/Lhasa (AB,L,D)
Return to Lhasa by coach after breakfast. In the afternoon visit the Robulinka Palace which was the summer palace of Tibetan Kings.

Day 13 Lhasa (AB,L,D)
Take a visit to the Sera
Monastery, the largest of the three great monasteries. Proceed to a Tibetan clinic, and famous Eight Corner Street where you will have a glimpse into daily Tibetan life.

Day 14 Lhasa/Chengdu (AB,L,D)
After breakfast, fly back to Chengdu. Afternoon visit will be the Giant Panda Breeding Center, the Bamboo Weaving Factory. Tonight the accommodation is Minshan Hotel.

Day 15 Chengdu/Xian(AB,L,D)
Take a Morning flight to Xi'an. Upon arrival, visit the ancient city wall, and the Shaanxi Provincial Museum if time permits. Transfer to your Hotel (4 star or similar).

Day 16 Xi'an (AB,L,SD)
Today's highlight is a visit to the Archaeological Museum, home to more than 6,000 life-size terra-cotta warriors and horses excavated from the tomb of the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty. After lunch, visit the Neolithic Village of Banpo which contains relics from the earliest known inhabitants of China, as well as the Xiahe Village. In the evening, attend a Tang Dynasty dinner show.

Day 17 Xi'an/Beijing (AB,L,D)
Take a morning flight to Beijing. Visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, home of Chinese Emperors for more than 500 years. After lunch visit the Temple of Heaven, one of the best examples of Ming Dynasty architecture in Beijing. Transfer to your Hotel (4 star or similar).

Day 18 Beijing (AB,L,SD)
The highlight today is an excursion to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Enjoy the dramatic vistas and marvel at the Wall as it climbs and descends steep ridges and narrow valleys. Afternoon visit to the Summer Palace, where the Empress Dowager Ci Xi would go to escape the heat of the city. Attend a welcome banquet featuring Beijing Roast Duck in the evening.

Day 19 Exit China (AB)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport, then board your flight home.
